Our season runs for a full nine months from September through to May – typically 36-37 evening sessions for your membership subscription. Our programme offers a rich variety of topics regarding the hobby of photography including invited inspirational external speakers & lecturers, enthralling members' evenings and exciting internal & external competitions.
Optionally, at a minor extra charge (£3) to cover costs, we offer Special Interest Groups which meet on Monday or Wednesday evenings covering the topics of Presenting "Panels of Pictures", SmartPhone Photography, Striving for LRPS or ARPS Distinction, a Beginners Group, an Improvers Group, Creative Work and also practical Workshops. We also offer some formal classroom training on many Sundays this autumn on several aspects of photography (at a fee from around £8 to £15).
Our membership ranges from enthusiastic beginners to experienced advanced workers with interests that span almost every photographic genre. We pride ourselves on being a friendly society with members always available to offer advice on photographic equipment, the art of taking good pictures and of course the increasingly important and sometimes complex world of mastering computer software for managing and manipulating your images. A "Photo Hub" Discussion table is also available at no extra charge on many Tuesday evenings.
A highlight of the year is our Annual Exhibition. The exhibition classes are reserved for members only, offering a magnificent chance to exhibit your work to the public in the Discovery Centre City Space.
