Digital Projection Club competitions 2010-2011

If you are not familiar with the Digital Image Upload procedure for the monthly competitions then please follow the steps below.

Uploading your image for the next competition
We have provided an upload facility that will allow you to enter your image into the competition directly from your PC.
The basic steps are:
  • Locate your image on your PC
  • Add the image to the upload queue
  • Upload your image into the competition
  • Rename your image, if required
  • Delete and re-submit your image if you change your mind about which image you would like to enter
Getting Started
If you have correctly followed the guidelines, your image should:
  • Be exactly 1400 pixels on its longest dimension.
  • Be less than 2Mb in size.
Locating your image
Click the 'Add Files' button on the upload facility window. This will show a standard windows/Mac file browser so you can navigate and find the image that you have prepared.
  1. Once located, select this image and you will see its name appear in the 'Upload Queue' section of the uploader. Please DO NOT add more than one image as this will prevent you from entering ANY images at all.
Uploading your image
To enter your image into the competition you have to upload it.
  1. In the 'upload queue' section of the uploader you will see a button labelled 'Upload'. Click this button to enter the image.
You will see a green progress bar appear showing the progress of your image being uploaded. Once it is uploaded your entry will confirmed with a pop up window. Click 'Ok' and you will see your image appear in the 'Remote' section of the uploader.
Please check the 'status' messages for any errors relating to the upload. This may indicate that the image was too large or some other error has occurred during the image upload. If you cannot upload your image please contact the webteam stating the exact error message you are getting.
Warning! If your image in NOT 1400 pixels on its longest side the uploader will re-size the image to fit the competition rules. This may result in a loss of quality especially if your image is smaller than this size.

Renaming your image
In order for the competition secretary to arrange the entries the filename MUST conform to strict naming conventions. The uploader does not verify the format but using the format will ensure that the competition secretary will be able to enter your image as you intended.
The naming convention is:
CLASS_Your Name_Image Title.jpg (e.g. B_Paul Irving_Great Image.jpg)
where 'class' can be B (beginners), I (intermediate) or A (advanced).
  1. To rename your image, if required, simply click on the 'Options' button and select 'Rename' then enter the new name in the  'new file name' box and then click the 'Rename' button to the right to finalise the procedure. Please note you MUST include the .jpg extension in the file name otherwise the rename will fail.
Deleting your image
If you change your mind and wish to enter a different image then you may delete the one that has been uploaded.
  1. To delete the image simply click on the 'Delete' button, and then click the 2nd 'Delete' button to confirm.
You can then re-enter the competition with a new image by following the steps above.

Good luck with your submissions!!
