Society History
The Start
In 1923 a letter to the Editor of the Hampshire Chronicle from Mr F.B.H.Wride, a local chemist, suggested the formation of a Society to further the interest of both professional and amateur photographers within this ancient City. A quick response resulted in the birth of the present Society from 40 requests for membership.
The first Committee consisted of Rev. Canon Hancock ( Chairman), Mr.F.B.H.Wride ( Secretary, Mr C.R. Beckwith (Assistant Secretary ), Dr. F.F.C.Jagger (Treasurer), The Headmaster of Winchester College, Dr. M.J.Rendall, accepted the Presidency
